Easy like Sunday Morning
Curiosity did WHAT??
The Sleeper Rarely Wakes....
They grow up so fast......
It's been a while since the Squeaky Ginger blog was updated - due to extreme laziness on the part of The Owner, admittedly, for which she has been duly reprimanded - but hopefully it's worth the wait.
Poor old Luteus has, since September, been carted off to the vet's to be neutered, which was.. interesting. Of course we didn't want to leave him there, and as usual he howled with most righteous indignation at being loaded into his travelling box... but it was when we picked him up afterwards that we got the biggest surprise.
Having been warned by just about everyone that he would be dozy and a bit grumpy for a few days after the operation, imagine our surprise when we walk into the nurse's room and find a small, but rapidly spinning, ginger cat waiting in his travelling box. He's chasing his tail, and apparently has been for the last five minutes. The nurse looks at us, looks at him and says: "As you can see, he's raring to go home...".
Once we do get him home, as soon as we carry him through the front door, even before we've let him out, he starts purring like there's no tomorrow, and spends the rest of the evening climbing every vertical surface he can find (including our legs), and bouncing off the walls. Dozy? Hah!
He's also started teething in a big way - last week, one of his deciduous teeth fell out & landed smack in the middle of the sofa. It took me a minute to work out what on earth it was, and then grab it before he ate it.... A side effect of the teething seems to be spectacularly bad breath, which as far as I can see is to be expected. The BW insists that his breath (the cat's, obviously, rather than the BW's) doesn't smell bad, it smells normal, but a bit stronger.
My point of view, however, is that if I can smell when he yawns halfway across the room, that ain't normal. Or pleasant. But perhaps it was the teething which led to the Aloe Vera incident, in which Luteus devoured half my baby Aloe Vera plant that was sitting on the bathroom windowsill, and then wandered off licking his lips & looking highly pleased with himself. After that, I expect his coat to be glossy, his eyes to be bright, his gums to be pink and healthy, and his breath to be sweet and fresh (like it was after he ate half the basil plant from the kitchen) for some time to come.
If he goes after orchids, basil, aloe vera & money plants, what on earth's he going to be like when we get a Christmas tree in the house? God help us.....
Current mood: sleepy
